Join a gathering of backyard gardeners and urban farmers to exchange ideas and practices for the flourishing of our local food systems. This day of cross-pollinating ideas and practices in urban agriculture and backyard gardening is hosted by Florida International University's International Center for Tropical Botany and The Kampong of the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Coconut Grove.

Featuring presentations by agricultural researchers and practitioners from Miami-Dade and Alachua counties, including:
• Melissa DeSa of Working Food, Alachua County
• Corinne Mariposa of Miami Seed Share
• Muriel Olivares & Tiffany Noe of Little River Cooperative
• Jorge Palacios of the Green Haven Project

Lunch will be provided by Related Recipes, offering plant-based South Indian Cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. In the afternoon we will move into the Kampong for demonstrations on farming and gardening, such as mulching, composting, pest-management, and soil amendments. Following closing remarks, local plant-focused businesses will have display tables for participants.

Registered participants will receive a detailed schedule before the event.
